How To Style A Coffee Table
Coffee tables are an easy, achievable area to style in your home which gives great impact and sets the tone for each room. As the center piece for sitting rooms, living rooms, media rooms, and more, the coffee table is a great place to start your styling journey. Whilst a small and very achievable area, it can often be tricky knowing where to start if you haven’t styled a home before. To help you style your coffee table our Interior Stylists here at Brighton Homes has put together her top tips on coffee table styling.
Consider the Coffee Tables Finish
Start by assessing the coffee table. If the finish of the coffee table is a standout, make sure the styling pieces don’t detract but complement the table. We recommend using items that are simple and don’t cover too much of the tabletop. We would steer away from large items like trays. If your coffee table is a blank canvas, use this opportunity to have fun with the décor! Explore colours, patterns, and textures that tie in with the rest of your home. This is also a great opportunity to use a tray for some layering and to add a point of interest.
What Shape Is Your Coffee Table?
The shape of your coffee table will help determine what decor you place on it. As a guideline, if you have a round coffee table we recommend using a tray that’s round or if you have a rectangular coffee table consider using a rectangular tray.
Play with Textures
Using a mix of textures is a great way to add interest even if your coffee table alone is the standout feature. Textures can come from structural items, florals, greenery, books, beautiful boxes, vases and more!
Don't Overthink It
Our last piece of advice is to not overthink it! Create a coffee table that reflects your style, adds interest to your room, and makes you smile.
